The Friday Five
From The Friday Five
What was the best gift you received?
The best gift I received was a batch of my best friend’s oatmeal cookies. She shipped them to me all the way from North Carolina. I’m expecting another batch this fall for my birthday as she knows that I love them and miss them (as well as her). I think the last time I got them I cried a bit. It’s that little bit of her that I miss when really I miss seeing her everyday. Those oatmeal cookies connect me to her. I froze them and they lasted 6 weeks. It was so special.
What was the worst gift you received?
The worst gift I ever received was from my mother one Christmas when I was with my ex-husband. We open presents one at a time so everyone sees what everyone gets. She actually saved it for the last gift opened and had me hold it up for all to see. Mom got me a black lacey nightie and matching thong. Yeah… thanks Mom, just what I wanted. A sexy nightie to put on for my husband given by my MOTHER. The picture is priceless. I gave her such a look it almost rivals The Look.
What gift did you wish for, but never got?
I have always wished for a dalmatian. I love the dogs but I also know that I wouldn’t be able to give it the home it needed. Now that Master is not a dog person that will never happen. I still love dalmatian items and figurines. It’s a part of my fascination with them and always will be.
What was the best present you gave?
I worked 8 hours a day for 4 months making a cross-stitch for my best friend’s wedding. It’s very intricate work on 32 count cloth (32 squares per inch). When it was done it looked like lace with roses on it and the marriage information in the middle. I don’t think I picked up a needle and thread again for a year after that.
What was the worst present you gave?
Well, I’ve never had anyone tell me that my present stank or had one returned to the store or myself so maybe I don’t have a bad gift?
