Snagged this from Thoughts from a masochist submissive. It’s interesting what gets on TV these days. What do you think of how it portrays proDomme services and the lifestyle?

  1. i think Luna that professional dominatrixes on the most part dont do themselves any favours on how the rest of society percieve them. They give off what to us seems to be the funny stereotypical leather clad bitchy goddess image and I think they do that because they think this is what men who pay for it want. Its about the cheap thrills i think, because what else can you get from it when it is with someone you have only just met instead of the person with whom you have built up trust and a loving relationship. They are packaging themselves and portraying themselves in a way they think will get them money rather than the respect and admiration of other BDSMers for the most part.
Though I have met some that are very good and dedicated and genuine for the most part their main drive is doing what they think will get silly men to pay them money without them having to do sexual prostituion.
I try and package what I do as a bdsmer/fetishist as what i and my partner enjoy, rather than what appeals necessarily to the ‘majority’ as do i think a lot of people who i came across and I think that gains far more respect and admiration from your peers.
Youtube has a few portrayals of bdsm professionals - here’s an interview with one : Click Here

  2. I read blogs of several different proDommes and none of them have given off an image that you just described. I know that Mistress Matisse is very picky about her clients and will screen them vigorously before playing with them. The others do as well. Locally the proDomme that I have chatted with is very selective about who she will play with and is very respected in the community. Now I can’t say anything about professional services at clubs or other large city locations as the Dommes I read about all run their own select services.

I’m not sure I can agree with your generalization of professionals based on my own readings and familiarity with them. I’m happy to hear that you don’t try to conform to the box and I agree that it does more to garner respect if you can show what you do is what you love and you aren’t just trying to please everyone else.

  3. i wasnt saying that there aren’t pro’s that are genuine, or careful about who they play with (or that arent respectable and very good at what they do - because there are) but in our corner of the world (scotland) if you look at any of the pro’s heres websites or visit their premises you would see where i’m coming from. I used to work for one (as a pro submisive) and the cash is all they care about.= (i only lasted at it a few sessions it just wasnt fun and ended up being a free dogsbody for them pretty much and was spoken to and treated as if i was a bit of dirt on their shoe …ok maybe they thought that was my fantasy…but wait…i dont have a cock! lol) they would take ANY clients pretty much, they would bitch about them after ‘oh did you see him…bald and stank of B.O ‘ and all of that…and it just wasnt nice. Or maybe thats just glaswegian girls for you lol.
I have a lot of time and respect for people that make money for what they do, as I said i’ve done it and my Dom used to have a business making toys as well (and his ex was a pro for a bit), but its only good and respectable while you can have fun at the same time and not make the financial gain your only motive in doing it , and also i think you need to make sure that you are putting your heart and soul into giving the person the experience they crave…and to be honest, here in the UK, i think most of them are in it for the money and not really caring too much how the client feels about it.
I think there will be ones that really care about how they do it and how they treat the person…but i just think its not the norm. Maybe where you are they care about doing it right more.
I know a reporter who surveyed Mistresses asking who would undertake as particular extreme fetish he had (which would have caused permanent damage) and he said about 70% of them advised they would do it. I find that kind of worrying. I’m sure there are ones that exist that care..but probably not enough of them. Or at least not here.
