Day 10

03xm30.pngBelief in Santa

Santa was so magical to me as a child that when I found out that he wasn’t real I didn’t admit it to myself or my parents for 2 years.  Things just didn’t add up after awhile. How could anyone live at the north pole? I’d seen pictures of the north pole and there was no way! Santa couldn’t go to everyone’s home in one night, and I knew that he didn’t visit everyone when I friend of mine told me that her family doesn’t get visited by Santa. Debunked! I think I was 9 before I told my mom that Santa wasn’t real. I think she cried. I was then told as all eldest children are, not to tell my sister. Things continued as normal. I still got presents from Santa all the way up till the year I left for college. I played along with it.

Now that I’m an adult I find that the idea of Santa Claus is still alive and kicking. The idea that everyone is kind and special and that someone can reward you with gifts. The kindness of others, charity and good will are what Santa is all about. So while as a child I said he didn’t exist, as an adult I feel that he exists in all of us.
